HCC-Utica Campus Phi Theta Kappa inductees [Jackson Advocate]

(Jackson Advocate Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) JANS - The Hinds Community College Utica Campus Alpha Beta Xi Chapter of Phi Theta Kappa held its 39th induction ceremony recently that included five students and five honorary inductees. The ceremonial theme was "The Culture of Competition." The inductees represented Hinds, Warren, Copiah, and Claiborne counties.

Inducted as honorary Phi Theta Kappa members were Hinds County residents and Hinds Community College Utica Campus employees Dr. Debra Mays-Jackson, Hinds Community College vice president of Utica Campus, Vicksburg-Warren Campus and Administrative Services; Dr. Bobby Cooper, Hinds Community College-Utica Campus Humanities Division chair; Ms. Debra Danner, Hinds Community College-Utica Campus computer science instructor; and Dr. Mae C. Jackson, Hinds Community College-Utica Campus Math and Science Division chair.

Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society serves to recognize and encourage the academic achievement of two-year college students and provide opportunities for individual growth and development through honors, leadership and service programming. Today, Phi Theta Kappa is the largest honor society in American higher education with more than 2.5 million members and 1,275 chapters worldwide. In 1929, the American Association of Community Colleges recognized Phi Theta Kappa as the official honor society for two-year colleges.
