Bosch Highlights Diesel, Safety Technologies At SAE Government/Industry Meeting Jan. 22-24

FARMINGTON HILLS, Mich. --(Business Wire)--

Bosch is committed to advancing the automotive industry through innovative technologies that lead to injury- and collision-free driving and significantly improve fuel efficiency and performance while lowering exhaust emissions. The leading global supplier of technology and services is dedicated to providing sustainable and innovative technology. Bosch will present its insights on clean diesel and safety solutions during three sessions at the SAE 2014 Government/Industry Meeting in Washington, D.C., on Jan. 23.

"The SAE Government/Industry Meeting draws together a unique group of constituencies, including automakers, regulators and other government officials in Washington, D.C.," said Mike Mansuetti, president, Robert Bosch LLC. "Presenting our advanced innovations and exchanging insights with these constituencies will provide opportunities for continued and significant growth within the automotive industry, with the end goal of better, safer and cleaner driving experiences."

Clean Diesel Technologies Provide Better Fuel Economy

Diesel engines offer up to 25 percent lower CO2 emissions and 50 percent more torque than a traditional port-fuel injected gasoline engine, while maintaining a 30 percent fuel consumption advantage. This lower fuel consumption is equivalent to more than 40 percent more mileage, making diesel a good option for long-distance driving.

Alexander Freitag, director of diesel systems engineering for Robert Bosch LLC, will highlight diesel powertrain diversification for today and the future at "Light-Duty Gasoline and Diesel Technologies" on Jan. 23 at 9:20 a.m. in Room 146 B. He will discuss market trends, regulation and optimization of the diesel system.

Proven Safety Technology

It is estimated that more than 90 percent of automobile crashes occur because of driver error. Bosch is committed to creating innovative technology that can reduce the number of accidents and improve driver and passenger safety.

Frank Sgambati, director of marketing andproduct innovation for Chassis Systems Control at Robert Bosch LLC, will present at two sessions on Jan. 23: "Crash Data Collection & Analysis" and "Consumer Information Focused on Vehicle Safety." His remarks at the first session will cover estimation of crash avoidance and mitigation benefits through in-depth crash data. He will speak at 9:20 a.m. in Room 147 AB. At the second session, Sgambati will discuss a proposal for updating the NCAP 5-Star rating system to improve consumer education based on real-world safety benefits. His remarks begin at 11:35 a.m. in Room 147 AB.
