Android pictures might put your privacy at risk [DNA : Daily News & Analysis (India)](DNA : Daily News & Analysis (India) Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) "Android users could face grave risk to the privacy as their high-end phone, if used in negligent manner, could leak their location to a stranger as soon as the users click a snap. Informing about hazards of cyber world and social networking sites, Rakshit Tondon, Consultant of Internet and Mobile Association revealed this during IMA conclave Friday. Tandon claimed that majority of the mobile users are unaware that Android phones are equipped with Geo-tag option which reveals the location of the user once left on. "This might put privacy of users mostly females under severe threat as girls are mostly habitual of clicking their own pictures inside home and anyone could trace their location while using Google map," Tandon said adding that skipping user manual could pose serious threats. He claimed that today more than half users of internet are suffering from cyber bulling or any other cyber crime. It has as much loss as many benefits. People changes their profile pictures with an interest and update their status and suffer for their deeds, he said while cautioning youngsters against display of personal information on social networking sites like Facebook. People disclosing their tour programme on social sites and making their home vulnerable for thieves in their absence, he added. Tandon also informed about account hacking, profile hacking, profile misuse, cyber bulling etc and also advised them to keep vigil all the time. He also narrated a story and explained that how it is dangerous to throw payment slips after using ATMs. Pointing out common negligence in using e-mails, he said that mostly people keep the same password for Facebook account and e-mail ID which is nothing but a kind of virtual suicide. Explaining magnitude of the cyber crime, he said that India has suffered losses to the tune of USD 8 billion by 2012 due to cyber crimes. "At present, only 10% personal information of any individual is online but it would be 100% in the years to come, so the cyber security would gain sizable prominence in future," he said.
