Switzer among 3 named to board of state agency [Gazette, The (CO)]

(Gazette, The (CO) Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) -- Former Dallas Cowboys and University of Oklahoma coach Barry Switzer is among three members appointed to a board of directors of an agency overseeing the development of a Native American museum in Oklahoma City.

Joining Switzer as new members to the Native American Cultural and Educational Authority's Board of Directors is Shawnee Tribe Chief Ron Sparkman and former Secretary of Commerce Bob Burke.

The Native American Cultural and Educational Authority is a state agency created to develop the American Indian Cultural Center and Museum.

Once completed, the $170 million American Indian Cultural Center and Museum will pay homage to the state's nearly 40 Indian tribes. But it's only half finished and far short of the money needed for completion. Some lawmakers have said they are reluctant to fund the facility.
