Mural brightens up nursing home [Edition 3] [Gloucestershire Echo (England)]

(Gloucestershire Echo (England) Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) RESIDENTS at Westbourne Nursing Home in Gloucester have created a winter mural to brighten up one of their three lounges.

Lorraine Booth, the register manager at the Reservoir Road home, said: "It's really good, I love that the residents take part, and take such pride in their work - it makes me feel like a proud mum." The mural itself, housed in the Olympic lounge, is 3D and was made using a variety of techniques and materials, including real leaves from outside the home to provide a piece of artwork with depth, colour and texture.

These murals have been spearheaded by Gloria Preston, the activities co-ordinator, who has offered constant encouragement to the residents to create something new for birthdays, holidays and seasons throughout the year.

The current winter-themed mural will stay on display until next month when the next planned mural, for Valentine's Day, will be revealed. Previous, Christmas-themed mural featured a number of choirboys made of card with 3D arms, bordered with silver tinsel.
