Coker Group Announces Appointment of Chief Medical Officer to Lead Clinical Care Transformation

ALPHARETTA, Ga. --(Business Wire)--

The clinical and financial aspects of healthcare are intertwined like never before. Recognizing this, Coker Group has added the title and responsibilities of Chief Medical Officer to the portfolio of Ellis Knight, MD, MBA, FACHE.

Dr. Knight joined Coker Group in October 2013 as Senior Vice President leading the firm's Hospital Operations and Strategic Services (HOSS section), which provides guidance specifically on clinical integration and related areas of "accountable care." With this leadership addition, more and more entities are looking to Coker as the voice representing hospitals and physicians in the quest for quality of care in a value-based reimbursement system. Having led the creation and implementation of a clinically integrated organization in his previous role at Palmetto Health, Dr. Knight brings real world experience to this challenging phase of healthcare reform.

As the leader and clinical expert for HOSS, Dr. Knight continues o lead strategic and operational assignments pertaining to health systems' day-to-day services. In addition, Knight will be guiding Coker's Care Process Design System (C²PDS) model which focuses beyond the structural aspects of clinical integration to the quality of clinical care.

"As a practicing physician, clinical leader and change agent, Dr. Knight's clinical leadership will allow us to better guide health systems and physicians toward evidence-based processes which will ultimately result in improved care; this will be completed in a largely fee-for-service environment," stated Max Reiboldt, President/CEO of Coker Group.

"Retooling the care delivery system is best done by those closest to the care process, which includes physicians, nurses and other ancillary clinical practitioners," stated Dr. Knight. "Within my new responsibilities, Coker Group can expand beyond the typical consultant's role in both personnel and scope. This expansion will allow us to identify, facilitate and participate in the development of the transformative vision that is needed for healthcare to be self-sustaining and value-producing."
