President Obama Appoints Denise Turner Roth to Serve as GSA Deputy Administrator(Targeted News Service Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) WASHINGTON, Jan. 7 -- The General Services Administration issued the following news release: Today, the General Services Administration (GSA) Administrator Dan Tangherlini announced President Obama's appointment of Denise Turner Roth as the agency's Deputy Administrator. Roth will replace Susan Brita on March 14, upon her retirement after serving as the GSA Deputy Administrator since 2010. "Denise has an incredible track record of serving the American people at multiple levels of government and delivering effective and efficient government services" said Tangherlini. "Her leadership and experiences in management are just what we need at GSA to continue to provide our partner agencies with the high quality service and savings they need in real estate, acquisitions and IT." Roth's career in public service spans 18 years. She most recently served as the City Manager for the City of Greensboro, NC, where her leadership has helped pave the way for several new and creative management changes in Greensboro, including the restructuring and reorganizing of departments and divisions to promote efficiency and improve service delivery. During her tenure she was responsible for overseeing changes and improvements to the information technology department. She implemented a strategic planning process that combined the enterprise solutions and information technology functions to better streamline internal services and application development. Prior to her work in Greensboro, she served as the public space manager for the District of Columbia Department of Transportation (DDOT), where she oversaw public space access by major utility and telecommunication companies. Before joining DDOT, Roth served as Special Assistant to the Mayor of Washington DC and prior to that, she worked in the office of Congressman Jim Moran. "I am thrilled to join GSA and to be a part of a team of dedicated public servants who are committed to delivering cost savings and value across the federal government," said Roth. "This is a great opportunity to make a positive impact in communities throughout the country." With 30 years of public service, outgoing Deputy Administrator Brita is a respected leader within the agency, and has played a vital role in helping the women and men of GSA fulfill the agency's important mission. "Susan Brita has dedicated her career to public service, having served the American people both in the United States Congress and GSA," said Tangherlini. "Susan has been a key player in our efforts to improve GSA and ensure it is delivering on its important mission. Her commitment to the highest standards of public service have helped strengthen this agency and will serve as an example for everyone who works here for years to come."
