Airbiquity Launches First Wave of Infotainment Content Providers for Its Choreo Private Cloud Connected Vehicle Services Platform

(Marketwire Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) SEATTLE, WA -- (Marketwired) -- 01/07/14 -- Airbiquity, Inc., a global leader in connected vehicle services, today announced the launch of applications from three content providers on its Choreo private cloud connected vehicle services platform: iHeartRadio, Google and Facebook. Airbiquity worked with these category-leading brands to deliver a best-of-breed connected car user experience, and will announce the launch of a broad range of additional applications available on the Choreo platform throughout 2014.

Automotive OEMs, Tier 1 suppliers and wireless carriers use the Choreo platform to easily configure, differentiate, and manage their global connected car programs at the model and country level, including the selection of infotainment content made available to their vehicle drivers from the Airbiquity content portfolio. Airbiquity skillfully integrates each content provider into the Choreo platform and vehicle in a way that mitigates driver distractions while providing personalized content delivery for the driver. For example, Airbiquity leveraged Facebook's developer APIs to create an in-dash application that enables Facebook users to see their personal News Feed in the head unit of their car, as well as be able to check-in and post status updates without having to touch their smartphone while inside the vehicle. Drivers are also able to make content selections from a menu using a dedicated smartphone app or PC portal to seamlessly integrate their choices and personal preferences into their connected car infotainment experience.

"Airbiquity is the industry leader in enabling the configuration, management and continual delivery of cutting-edge connected car programs and content globally," said Kamyar Moinzadeh, Airbiquity CEO & President. "We're 100% committed to working with the leading content providers around the world to ensure their brands are available to our customers, and their unique value proposition and user experience is appropriately integrated into the connected car environment to ensure driver safety and convenience." To assist and streamline the content provider integration process Airbiquity offers an App Development Program including APIs, sample code, sample integrations, interactive web portal, and software libraries. After the initial integration Airbiquity continually manages content provider updates ensuring drivers have access to the latest and most widely used content, and automotive OEMs have the ability to dynamically deploy and update their connected car program content without having to involve the vehicle driver.

Content and experiences from iHeartRadio, Google and Facebook have been integrated into the Choreo platform with the following driver distraction safety features: iHeartRadio - Designed with safety in mind, iHeartRadio's auto app utilizes intuitive menu functions that do not require text input and feature large touch targets to help drivers keep their eyes on the road.

Google Search - When the vehicle is in motion, text input for entering a search term is disabled, and the voice recognition service is enabled, so the user can make a search request via speech.

Facebook - When the vehicle is in motion, the ability to read the News Feed is disabled, and text-to-speech conversion is enabled, and the News Feed is read to the driver via the car's audio interface.
