Almost a tablet [New Straits Time (Malaysia)]

(New Straits Time (Malaysia) Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) Question: What is it? Answer: A Windows 8 phone with a 6-inch full HD 1080p LCD and a 20 MP camera. It is said to be the first Windows phone to reach the processing power of iPhone 5s and the new Samsung smartphones. It is also said to be the biggest Windows phone to date.

Question: What are its other key features? Answer: A 2.3 GHz Snapdragon 800 processor, 2GB RAM, microSD, 3,200 mAh battery, NFC and 802.11n Wi-Fi Question: How does it feel? Answer: Made from a single piece of polycarbonate, there is something very space age about the Lumia. The device looks futuristic - like a prop from Star Trek. The material is smooth and pleasing to the touch. It feels solid. The screen glass welds perfectly into the polycarbonate body. It looks and feels a lot better than any Samsung or Apple design.

Question: What's it like to use? Answer: The screen is extremely sharp and crisp. It's quite easy and intuitive to use. The physical volume and home buttons function well. The camera can be activated by a physical button on the bottom right of the phone. In addition to the physical keys, there are three soft keys on the bottom of the phone - the back, Windows and search buttons. The touch screen works well.

Question: How does the camera perform? Answer: One of the key selling points of the Lumia series is the excellent cameras they have onboard. The 1520 is no exception with a 20MP PureView camera and 1/2.5-inch sensor. Aperture is f/2.4 with Carl Zeiss optics. The camera has a dual LED flash. The Nokia Pro Cam app is also quite good. The camera beats most other phone cameras in terms of image quality.

Question: What is it like to carry around? Answer: It is extremely big - larger than a Samsung Note 3 - and a bit hard to fit in your pocket. The sharp edges are bound to ruin the pockets of your jeans. You have to hold it in your hand or carry it in a handbag.

Question: What are the pros and cons? Answer: Excellent camera with good low light performance, good battery life with the 3200 mAh battery, good screen with vibrant colours and solid build quality.

A bit hefty to carry around, difficult to hold with one hand, the nano-SIM slot has an odd mechanism and speaker sounds a bit hollow.

Question: Where can I get one? Answer: The device is currently available at all Nokia stores (c) 2014 ProQuest Information and Learning Company; All Rights Reserved.
