Industry Analyst Jeff Kagan on AT&T U-verse GigaPower Now On in Austin

(PR Web Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) Atlanta, GA (PRWEB) December 11, 2013 Today AT&T announced their new U-verse with GigaPower is on in Austin, Texas, according to their press release Dec 11.

Technology analyst Jeff Kagan offers comment.

“The race for faster Internet is heating up. Congratulations to both AT&T and Austin, Texas on this new U-verse GigaPower going online in Austin, Texas,” says Tech analyst Jeff Kagan.

“AT&T is not the only company moving ahead in this space. Google, CenturyLink and C Spire are also moving ahead quickly. And in fact I expect to see other carriers jumping in to this space as well,” says Principal analyst Kagan.

“We are still in the very early stages of this high speed transformation. The companies who are involved with this at this early stage will have a competitive advantage. Then over the next few years the new innovation will become expected by customers. At that point it will become a necessity for carriers to offer,” says Kagan.

“This is exciting to see cities and customers jumping up and down trying to be next on the list. This is not just a faster Internet connection, but also creates a very attractive, high-tech incentive for companies and people to move to these areas. This is good for the economic well being of involved cities,” says Kagan.

“So congratulations to AT&T on rolling out this very fast all-fiber Internet and congratulations to Austin, Texas on being the first to get the benefits,” says Kagan.

AT&T plans to expand availability of U-verse with GigaPower beyond parts of Austin area neighborhoods like French Place, Mueller, Zilker and Onion Creek to even more residents and small businesses in 2014. Expansion plans will, in part, be influenced by the number of Austinites voting for their neighborhood at http://www.att.com/gigapower.
