Chavez currently serves as Vice President in Avaya's Office of the CTO. He brings more than 24 years of professional experience and holds numerous U.S. and international patents. Since joining AT&T Bell Labs in 1989 and then following successor companies, Lucent & Avaya, David secured a number of influential management and contributor roles, including the development of next generation communication platforms. Previously, he earned a bachelor's degree in computer science and mathematics from New Mexico State University and a master's degree in mathematics from Colorado State University. David's work has received significant recognition, including the Lucent International Award for Excellence and multiple nominations for the MIT Lemelson Award. This year David was one of the inventors recognized with a 2013 Thomas Alva Edison award for innovation.
