German Baked Goods Wholesaler BAKO Enhancing Efficiency With Wi-Fi From Meru Networks

MUNICH, GERMANY, Nov 19, 2013 (Marketwired via COMTEX) -- Meru Networks(R) (NASDAQ: MERU), a leader in Wi-Fi networking, today announced that German baked goods wholesaler BAeKO has chosen Meru to support a pick-by-voice system at its Grimmen (Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania) and Michendorf branches. The pick-by-voice system has enabled BAeKO to reduce the error rate for order consignments by 95 percent.

"Thanks to the Meru WLAN technology, we were able to set up a high-availability network to support our pick-by-voice system, which is critical to our operations," said Heinz Juergen Boesch, IT manager at BAeKO HANSA. "All central warehouse processes now run optimally thanks to the reliability of the Meru wireless network." BAeKO supplies bakeries and confectioneries with all necessary ingredients for their daily work. In the past, warehouse employees sometimes loaded the wrong products or incorrect quantities, leading to customer complaints. The pick-by-voice system uses headsets that guide employees with voice commands when processing orders, greatly enhancing efficiency by reducing packing order errors. The network was designed and deployed by Meru Platinum Partner LANtana GmbH.

"BAeKO is committed to efficiency in operations to benefit its customers," said Tabatha von Koelichen, sales manager for the DACH region at Meru. "Meru solutions are designed for high performance and reliability to support mission-critical systems such as BAeKO's pick-by-voice, and we are pleased that they picked Meru to support it."
