(Global Data Point Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) NetJapan, Inc. Releases Imaging Backup and Disaster Recovery Licensing Solution for Virtual Machines in Cloud Environments That Includes Inline Data Deduplication Compression (IDDC) NetJapan, Inc., developer of backup and disaster recovery solutions, releases "ActiveImage Protector 3.5 Virtual Edition Cloud License," a flexible licensing plan that allows users to apply a single licensed copy of ActiveImage Protector Virtual Edition on up to five virtual machines in a Cloud environment. Current trends in enterprise IT environments are to migrate computers and servers to Cloud computing environments. The licensing policies for backup and disaster recovery solutions in Cloud environments are typically designed to charge license fees based on the number of virtual machines. Virtual machines in Cloud environments are not hosted on a specific virtual host but may migrate from host to host within that Cloud. In addition, the number of virtual machines on a host may dynamically change. Under these circumstances, the traditional licensing policy for backup and recovery of a specific server or virtual host cannot be applied to the virtual machines in a Cloud environment.

To address these licensing issues, NetJapan has introduced its new Cloud licensing scheme for ActiveImage Protector Virtual Edition. The "AIP VE Cloud License" is now available from NetJapan and includes all the features found in the standard versions of ActiveImage Protector Server, Desktop and Linux Editions for traditional physical servers.
