Marvell Integrates 3G Platform and Wireless Solutions with Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 7.0 TabletAug 01, 2013 (Close-Up Media via COMTEX) -- Marvell announced that Samsung's Galaxy Tab 3 7.0 is powered by the Marvell Armada Mobile PXA986 platform, delivering high-performance computing with graphics capabilities and connectivity. Featured in the 3G and Wi-Fi versions of the Galaxy Tab 3 7.0 tablet, Marvell said the PXA986 supports multimedia capabilities and brings universal connectivity and low-cost processing power to mobile devices across the globe. The Galaxy Tab 3 7.0 currently is available in retail stores throughout the U.S., Europe and Asia. According to a release, the Armada Mobile PXA986 is a mass market, single-chip solution that integrates a high-performance, low-power 1.2GHz dual-core ARM Cortex-A9 application processor with cellular modems to support multimedia and graphics capabilities consumers demand for their mobile devices. The PXA986 also features an multimode HSPA+ modem supporting Wideband Code Division Multiple Access (WCDMA) and 2G networks, 21.1 Mbps downlink data-rate and 5.76 Mbps uplink data-rate, and critical features such as DSDS. Marvell's unified mobile platform, including the PXA986, PXA988 and PXA1088, provides a pin-compatible single-chip 3G SoC, thus enabling migration from dual-core to quad-core solutions. In addition to the PXA986 platform, the Galaxy Tab 3 7.0 also leverages Marvell's latest wireless connectivity technology (Wi-Fi + Bluetooth), RF transceivers and integrated power management and audio codec solutions.
