Research and Markets Adds Report: Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) for Power Transmission and Distribution (T&D) - Global Market Size, Competitive Landscape and Forecasts to 2020

Jul 25, 2013 (Close-Up Media via COMTEX) -- Research and Markets has announced the addition of the "Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) for Power Transmission and Distribution (T&D) - Global Market Size, Competitive Landscape and Forecasts to 2020" report to its offerings.

In a release, Research and Markets noted that report highlights include: The global Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) market is currently valued at $6.6 billion, an increase from $2 billion in 2006 at a Compound Annual Growth Rate (CAGR) of 22.01 percent. The growing need for industrial automating processes, the increasing share of renewable energy in many countries' power mix, and a focus on deploying smart grid projects are some of the factors that are driving this growth.

Increased investment in generating capacity additions, as well as Transmission and Distribution (T&D) infrastructure such as substations, transmission lines, distribution lines and other equipment, is expected to increase the demand for automation products such as SCADA. Although the global economic recession and the eurozone crisis resulted in the slow growth of SCADA revenues in some countries from 2008 to 2010, the situation is expected to improve in the future.

China Contributes Around Half of the Total Global SCADA Revenues Presently, China contributes about 45.4 percent to the total global SCADA revenues and it is expected to continue driving the market over the forecast period. The US and the UK also contribute a considerable share. Chinese SCADA revenues increased from $1 billion in 2006 to $3 billion in 2012 at a CAGR of 20.1 percent, and they are expected to grow at a high rate during the forecast period as well.

Established Companies Such as Siemens, Alstom, GE and ABB Dominate the SCADA Market Big players such as Siemens, Alstom, GE, ABB, and Rockwell Automation have the dominating share in the SCADA market worldwide. Although smaller players are providing increasing competition to the big established players, the dominating share in the SCADA market will still be held by the latter. These big players operating in the market generally provide the entire package of SCADA solutions to their clients, including the provision of hardware, software and services.
