ComponentOne Studio Enterprise 2013 v2 Expands its Windows 8 Controls and Adds AngularJS Support

PITTSBURGH, July 23, 2013 /PRNewswire via COMTEX/ -- ComponentOne a division of GrapeCity, the largest component solution provider in the Microsoft Visual Studio Partner Ecosystem, has released ComponentOne Studio Enterprise 2013 v2. The second of three releases scheduled for 2013, ComponentOne Studio Enterprise is a world renowned suite of data and UI controls for Microsoft Visual Studio, including Windows Store and HTML5 tools. With highlights ranging from additions and enhancements for Windows 8 to AngularJS support, there are tools for every .NET developer in this release.

Coming off the heels of Microsoft's BUILD conference, ComponentOne is now offering developers a new RadialMenu control. Greg Lutz, product manager at ComponentOne, described how this control improves the user experience. "Our C1RadialMenu control gives you a unique and touch-friendly alternative to the traditional context menu. When opened or closed, the C1RadialMenu control spins out smoothly like a pin-wheel and displays nested menu items around a central button," said Lutz.

For developers who need to display and edit formatted text as RTF or HTML, the new RichTextBox control supports rich formatting, CSS, and more. Lutz explained the best way to see the RichTextBox and RadialMenu in action is to explore the ComponentOne WorkSpace app that is now available in the Windows Store. With already 3,000 plus downloads, the WorkSpace app allows users to create, open, edit, and save spreadsheets and text documents on Windows 8 devices. To download the ComponentOne WorkSpace app, visit the Windows Store.

For web developers, Studio Enterprise 2013 v2 debuts new mobile MVC tools powered by Wijmo, the company's adaptive widget framework. With ready-to-use Mobile Project Templates and custom Mobile Scaffolding, developers can quickly develop Mobile web apps using MVC.

Wijmo's support of AngularJS, Google's lightweight MVC JavaScript framework, has been enhanced in this version release. Users may easily create and maintain a dynamically changing UI. "Developers can now write MVVM applications using HTML5 and JavaScript," said Lutz. "It provides dynamic views, the ability to extend HTML with custom tags, and a great deal more." ComponentOne has added enhanced touch support to its WPF and Silverlight control suites. The controls support dragging gestures when scrolling through content, so now desktop apps can work just as well on touch devices too! The WPF and WinForms control suites also received a new Entity Framework data source component which improves and simplifies data binding and adds powerful features such as paging and data virtualization with ComponentOne's innovative Virtual Mode technology.

Rounding out the release are updates and enhancements to many of the other products that make up ComponentOne Studio Enterprise: Studio for WinForms, Studio for WPF, Studio for Windows Phone, Studio for Silverlight, Studio for WinRT XAML, Studio for WinJS (BETA), Studio for ASP.NET Wijmo, Studio for iPhone, Studio for Compact Framework, and Studio for ActiveX.

AvailabilityThe company offers no-charge, 30-day trials of Studio Enterprise and each of its component suites, which may be downloaded at http://www.componentone.com/Downloads/. Online visitors may also access tutorials, forums, documentation, and videos as part of the ComponentOne experience.
