Nokia Siemens offers lowest price in China Mobile's 4G equipment procurement

BEIJING, Jul 17, 2013 (Xinhua via COMTEX) -- The Nokia Siemens Networks offered the lowest bidding price in China Mobile's (CHL.NYSE; 00941.HK) 4G equipment procurement, which involved 207,000 base stations and 550,000 carriers.

The International Finance News reported on Wednesday that the bidding price offered by Nokia Siemens was lower than those offered by its Chinese competitors, including ZTE and Huawei, which obtained the lion's shares in China Mobile's former procurements with price advantages.

Analysts said that China Mobile would face troubles while upgrading its 3G network into 4G network if Nokia Siemens finally won the procurement, because most of the equipment in the company's 3G base stations was provided by the domestic companies.

The procurement was divided into 2 parts, which were the commercial bid and the technical bid. Though the result of commercial bid was revealed, the procurement's final result would not be publicized until mid August. (Edited by Li Xiaoyu, [email protected])
