Ambient Corporation awarded contract by Consolidated Edison to update technology equipmentJul 10, 2013 (WORLDWIDE COMPUTER PRODUCTS NEWS via COMTEX) -- Ambient Corporation (Nasdaq:AMBT), a provider of a communications and applications platform, announced on Tuesday that it has been contracted by Consolidated Edison Company of New York Inc (NYSE:ED), an electricity utility in New York city, to provide application development and communications equipment to replace discontinued technology for commercial and industrial metering. Financial details of the contract award were not available. Under the contract, Ambient will provide application and communications for commercial and industrial customers of the utility. According to the company, its Smart Grid Nodes will communicate with the commercial and industrial meters to retrieve power quality and billing data. Ambient said that its Smart Grid Node family enables real-time data communication for multiple applications, in parallel smart metering, distribution automation, power quality monitoring for voltage optimization amongst others.
