Dr. Smarr is the Founding Director of the California Institute for Telecommunications and Information Technology (Calit2), a UC San Diego/Irvine partnership headquartered in the Qualcomm Institute. He is internationally recognized for his work in supercomputing, supervisualization, global broadband deployment, and, most recently, for his pioneering work in the field of the Quantified Self.
