PCTEL Showcases Next Generation MIMO Panel Antenna for High Capacity Stadium Deployments

ORLANDO, Fla. --(Business Wire)--

PCTEL (News - Alert), Inc. (NASDAQ: PCTI), a leader in simplifying wireless and site solutions for private and public networks, announced the launch of its next generation 802.11n MIMO (Multiple Input, Multiple Output) directional antenna for cellular data offloading applications in stadiums and large entertainment venues. The antenna will be showcased at the Cisco (News - Alert) Live 2013 event and exhibition being held in Orlando this week.

Smartphone users increasingly like to share their experiences live from stadiums and other entertainment venues, but photo and video uploads can strain wireless network capacity. Carriers need antenna solutions that allow them to deploy robust wireless networks with densely placed access points to support a large number of data users. However, coverage from each wireless access point needs to be contained to individual seating sections to overcome interference problems and achieve the data capacity gains that will satisfy users.

PCTEL's new FP2458-DP3X3 6-port MIMO panel antenna addresses these challenges with focused coverage patterns and consistent port to port performance. The antenna provides multiband coverage with 3 ports covering 2.4 GHz to 2.5 GHz and 3 ports covering 5.1 GHz to 5.9 GHz in a single unit. The platform's next generation RF design features enhanced gain and multiple polarizations for each port. These enhancements allow for optimal data throughput in high interference areas. The mechanical design includes fully integrated cable jumpers with various connector options to adapt to the leading radio manufacturers' MIMO configurations. It also provides a fully adjustable mounting solution for wall or pipe mount configurations to address difficult installation requirements at various venues.

"PCTEL's antenna solutions have been successfully deployed in multiple stadiums and high profile entertainment venues," said Jeff Miller, President of PCTEL Connected Solutions. "We continue to work with leading radio OEMs and carriers to develop high performance products to support the evolving requirements for high data rate applications," added Miller.

PCTEL will display ts new antenna and other broadband wireless antenna options June 23-27, 2013 at Cisco Live, Booth # 312. All variations of the new antenna are available for sale. Further details about PCTEL's antenna and accessory products are available on PCTEL's website at www.antenna.com.
