GlobalCastMD Announces 2013 Bladder Cancer Virtual Symposium


CLEVELAND HEIGHTS, Ohio --(Business Wire)--

In recognition of Bladder Cancer Awareness Month in July, GlobalCastMD is pleased to announce that on July 17, 2013, from 3:00 p.m. to 6:15 p.m. EDT, it will host a free online symposium organized specifically for bladder cancer patients. This year alone, an estimated 72,570 adults (54,610 men and 17,960 women) will be diagnosed with bladder cancer in the United States. Among men, bladder cancer is the fourth most common cancer and the eighth most common cause of cancer death and it is estimated that 15,210 deaths (10,820 men and 4,390 women) from this disease will occur this year.

This informative event will feature live, interactive presentations and discussions by bladder cancer patients and experts on the disease that will lead participants along a journey from suspected disease to diagnosis and treament of non-invasive bladder cancer. The event will also feature videos of actual cases that will highlight a new procedure for detecting bladder cancer.



The Bladder Cancer Virtual Symposium will be hosted by Dr. Gary Steinberg of the University of Chicago Medicine, who will be joined by Dr. Anne Schuckman and Dr. Sia Daneshmand of the University of Southern California, and Dr. Norm Smith of the University of Chicago Medicine, and others. The event is sponsored by KARL STORZ Endoscopy-America, Inc.

Among the topics to be covered and scheduled times are:


  • Recognizing symptoms and understanding a diagnosis of bladder cancer (3:15-4:00 p.m.),
  • Current treatment options for bladder cancer patients (4:00-5:00 p.m.),
  • Discussion of an exciting new and enhanced method for detecting bladder cancer in combination with conventional methods (5:00-6:00 p.m.),
  • Useful references and information sources you can turn to for help and more information (6:00-6:15 p.m.).

Time will also be provided for questions from patients in the audience.

From novel technologies for detecting tumors to current treatment options-this live online symposium will help answer participant's questions, address concerns and offer insight to what they should anticipate as bladder cancer patients.
