St. James Parish Schools Approved to Be a Course Choice Provider

St. James Parish Schools announced today approval to be a Course Choice Provider by the Board of Elementary and Secondary Education (BESE). The courses submitted for approval are comprehensive K - 12 academic offerings, Career and Technology, and Advance Preparation. Courses will be offered online statewide and face-to-face locally.

By offering these programs, St. James Parish continues to meet the needs of students while inspiring hope and purpose," said Dr. Alonzo "Lonnie" Luce, Ph. D., Superintendent of St. James Parish Schools. "Ultimately, what this means for students is access to comprehensive course offerings with a ong track record of success, access to a proven and effective technology platform, and responsive instruction."

Sharing the vision

Through Course Choice, St. James Parish will share its vision of hope and purpose with students throughout the state of Louisiana. We are offering comprehensive programs in three areas of concentration:

1)The Career and Technical Center (CTC (News - Alert)) offers programs in cosmetology, industrial maintenance, allied health, ProStart^®, and agri-science/construction technology. The programs provide students with the skills they need to secure high-wage jobs close to home here in Louisiana. CTC students can earn industry-based certifications (IBCs) that employers look for when they hire. Our CTC courses also offer dual enrollment opportunities that help students complete post-secondary degrees;

2)The Gifted Center offers advanced-level learning experiences in many curricular areas for gifted learners of all ages; and

3)The vC³ Virtual Academy offers students throughout Louisiana an on-line learning environment that is customized, connected, and complete.
