EASy II Granted FAA and EASA Approval for Falcon 7X

GENEVA, May 20, 2013 /PRNewswire via COMTEX/ -- New flight deck now approved for all EASy-series Falcons Dassault recently received approval from both the FAA and EASA for EASy II on the Falcon 7X. With this approval, the enhanced, award-winning flight deck is now available for all EASy-series Falcons.

"The EASy flight deck has received an enthusiastic reception from Falcon operators due to its ability to streamline the workflow in the cockpit and enhance situational awareness," said John Rosanvallon, President and CEO of Dassault Falcon Jet. "EASy II offers new functionalities and improved capabilities based upon extensive customer feedback, new regulations and operational changes that accompany a new set of air traffic management tools." Thanks to the data link capabilities provided by EASy II, the 7X is the first Falcon able to take advantage of the new generation of air traffic control capabilities. Data link tools such as CPDLC allow air traffic controllers to communicate with pilots via a text-based protocol, which can reduce miscommunication sometimes associated with voice-based communications.

The baseline EASy II features improved display symbology, an update to the Flight Management System 7.1 (FMS) with temperature compensation and several other improvements to the aircraft navigation capabilities. It supports a package of numerous options such as Synthetic Vision System; SBAS/LPV approaches; Automatic Descent Mode (ADM); integrated graphical XM Weather; ADS-B Out; Dual Jeppesen Charts; Take Off and Go Around (TOGA), CPDLC-ATNB1 and FANS 1/A.

In addition, EASy II is compatible with the U.S.'s Wide Area Augmentation System (WAAS) and the European Geostationary Navigation Overlay Service (EGNOS), a recently implemented SBAS system that allows precision approaches at more European airports.

EASy II was certified for the Falcon 900 in June of 2012 and for the Falcon 2000 series March of this year. It is the standard fit on all-production Falcon models, including the 900LX, the new Falcon 2000S and 2000LXS certified last month. To date, more than 100 Falcons have been equipped with EASy II, more than two thirds as a retrofit.

Installing EASy II on the 7X as a retrofit involves both software and hardware upgrades. The installation can be done at any Dassault Aircraft Services facility or Authorized Service Center and requires up to ten working days of downtime, depending on the options selected. The upgrade can also be installed during a major inspection, minimizing the impact on the operating schedule.

Training on the new platform for current EASy operators consists of a two-day 'Differences Course' that includes a full-flight simulator session.
