REDCOM Showcases a multi-technology Smart Grid Softswitch Solution at UTC TELECOM 2013

Victor, NY, Apr 11, 2013 (PRWeb.com via COMTEX) -- REDCOM Laboratories Inc., a company that designs and manufactures Advanced IP communication solutions, will exhibit its Smart Grid softswitch solution at UTC TELECOM 2013, May 15-17 in Booth 732, at the George R. Brown Convention Center, Houston, Texas.

At UTC TELECOM 2013, REDCOM will showcase the SLICE(R) 2100(TM), the world's slimmest multi-technology softswitch solution, featuring an integrated SIP call controller and media gateway in its 1U chassis. At the heart of SLICE(R) 2100(TM) is the innovative TRANSip(R) IP technology suite, based on the industry-standard Session Initiation Protocol (SIP). TRANSip consists of four functional core elements -- a Call Controller, Media Gateway, Media Gateway Controller and Legacy Support -- all housed in a single platform that offers full compatibility with IP, TDM, radio and wireless communications.

The convergence of radio, wireless and SIP communications is fundamentally changing the way that power utilities operate today. Even as power utilities implement modern Smart Grid networks, interoperability with existing communications protocols is essential. REDCOM addresses the needs of the power utility industry with a drop-in Voice over IP (VoIP) Smart Grid solution. REDCOM's SLICE 2100 softswitch solution allows utilities to future-proof their networks to interoperate today and tomorrow with a wide range of protocols and interfaces, positioning them for long-term evolution. Additionally, REDCOM's SLICE 2100 offers conferencing capabilities that allow utility networks to set up conferencing with multiple participants simultaneously. Several conferencing styles are available, including "progressive" (participants added one at a time), "meet-me" (participants meet at a valid number at a specified time), and "preset" (conference controller initiates the event, adding participants as they answer). Some or all of these elements can be combined into a single conference.

REDCOM has a long history of serving the power line carrier market and the SLICE 2100 is designed to serve the unique communications needs of the utility industry as it moves from circuit-switched to packet switched networks. With REDCOM solutions, power utility companies may continue to utilize their existing legacy networks while leveraging next-generation VoIP applications. This functionality provides REDCOM's customers with the flexibility to smoothly and incrementally migrate to IP in a cost-effective manner when it makes sense for their business, while still being able to deploy advanced communications technologies without compromising service quality and reliability.
