COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo., March 25, 2013 /PRNewswire via COMTEX/ -- Dr. Donald H. Kraft, Ph.D. is recognized by Continental Who's Who as a Pinnacle Professional among Educators as a result of over 30 Years of Excellence in the field. Dr. Kraft is a Professor Emeritus with Louisiana State University.



In his role as Professor Emeritus, Dr. Kraft concentrates his efforts within the fields of Computer Science; Information Retrieval; as well as Research in Applying Artificial Intelligence Methods such as Fuzzy Set Theory, Rough Sets, and Genetic Algorithms to Modeling Text Information Retrieval Systems.

As a published author and member of numerous professional organizations, Dr. Kraft has been recognized for his talent and dedication to the fields of Education and Industrial Engineering. The Association for Computing Machinery (ACM) named Dr. Kraft as a Distinguished Scientist in 2008 and he was also recognized by Louisiana State University with a Distinguished Faculty Award in 2004. In addition, in 2003 he was honored as a Fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS), and was also named as a Fellow of the Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) in 2002. Furthermore, Dr. Kraft earned the Louisiana State University Community Volunteer Award in 2002, and earned the North American Fuzzy Information Processing Society (NAFIPS) K.S. Fu Award for distinguished service to NAFIPS in 1986. Dr. Kraft also received an award for Best Information Science Book Award for Meadow, C.T., Boyce, B.R., and Kraft, D.H., Text Information Retrieval Systems, second edition, San Diego, CA: Academic Press, 2000. In addition to receiving recognition for his writing, Dr. Kraft also received a Research Award recognizing an individual or organization for outstanding research contributions to the field of information science in 1999 and the Watson Davis Award, commemorating the founder of the society (ASIST) and given to members for outstanding continuous contributions and dedicated service to the society in 1995.


Dr. Kraft earned his Ph.D. in Industrial Engineering from Purdue University. He also holds an M.S. and B.S. in Industrial Engineering, both from Purdue University.
