VideoPropulsion Announces FloodGate(R) FG-5000 Series High-Density MPEG2 & MPEG4 Transcoder Appliance Family

Slinger, WI, Feb 27, 2013 (PRWeb.com via COMTEX) -- Leveraging its expertise in MPEG transport stream processing, VideoPropulsion(R) (OTC:VPTV) broadens the Company's industry leading FloodGate(R) family of HDTV headend appliances by announcing the FloodGate FG-5000 Series Transcoder family. The FG-5000 Series provides transcoding for up to 72 streams of MPEG2 and/or MPEG4 in a single 3U chassis, and supports transcoding MPEG2 and MPEG4 up to HD bitrates and resolutions offering transcaling and transrating, with flexible I/O options.

The FG-5000 Series Transcoders are available in packaging to support from as few as 6 streams to as many as 72, support gigabit Ethernet for input and output with optional modules for DVB-ASI inputs and DVB-C multiplexed QAM RF outputs. Optional modules are also available for transcryption (decrypt/encrypt) of AES-128 standards including DTCP/IP, Pro:Idiom(R), Samsung LYNK(R), Verimatrix(R), and others. Factory tested transcode profiles ensure source and destination compatibility, with the flexibility for creating custom profiles to support virtually any MPEG to any MPEG.

"With the immense volume of MPEG digital video content in the world today, making it available to consumers proves challenging in that the content is in the wrong format, on the wrong network, or in the wrong place", said Lee McKenna, Vice President of Marketing for VideoPropulsion. "The FG-5000 Series Transcoders are designed to solve this problem by making the MPEG content available in the right format, on the right network, delivered to the right place." As one example of its incredible flexibility, the FG-5422 model transcoder is intended for use in the hospitality industry. The vast majority of linear digital TV content delivered to hotels is in MPEG4 format. Thousands of hotels have existing legacy MPEG2-only TVs that are not capable of decoding MPEG4 content. The cost-effective FG-5422 model can be deployed in hotels to convert MPEG4 source programming into MPEG2 format - thus preserving and extending the hotelier's investment in digital televisions and delivering HD programming to their guestrooms.

FloodGate FG-5000 Series Transcoders are available direct from VideoPropulsion.
