BRIEF: Man accused of destroying home with sledgehammer after domestic dispute
Feb 26, 2013 (Sun Sentinel - McClatchy-Tribune Information Services via COMTEX) --
A Hollywood man is accused of hitting his girlfriend and using a sledgehammer to smash the contents of their shared residence.
Troy Maurice Williams, 22, of the 2900 block of North 74th Avenue, was charged with aggravated assault with intent to commit a felony and felony battery resulting in great bodily harm, both domestic violence offenses, and obstructing justice-hindering communication with law enforcement.
The victim told a Hollywood police detective Sunday that Williams struck her right eye with a closed fist. When she tried to call for help, he slammed her cellphone to the floor and got a sledgehammer, the report states.
Police described seeing a smashed TV screen, a shattered glass coffee table and tossed furniture inside the home.
Prior to this incident, Williams had been free on bond related to open burglary and grand theft cases. After the new charges were filed against him, a judge ordered Williams held in jail without bond.
