Solarflare to Demonstrate High Performance Security Application at RSA(Marketwire Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) IRVINE, CA -- (Marketwire) -- 02/25/13 -- Solarflare, the leading provider of application-intelligent networking I/O, today announced its demonstration of a Network Intrusion Detection System (NIDS) for its ApplicationOnload Engine (AOE) platform at the RSA Conference. The demonstration will show that compared with a software based implementation an implementation of SNORT on the AOE FPGA-based application accelerator can deliver up to one order magnitude increase in detection rates while freeing up the host processor for other work, enabling the system to detect intrusions at sustained 10Gbps line rates. Moreover, since the AOE includes a standard 10GbE server network adapter PCIe card, the system enables the ubiquitous, decentralized security, any server in the network can now deliver accelerated NID services. The NIDs application was developed in collaboration with researchers at The Future Computing Technology Laboratory at Clemson University.
