TMC, International Business School Announce Joint COA Certification Workshop for Academic Market
PRINCETON, N.J. --(Business Wire)--
Thunderbird School of Global Management, the #1
ranked school of international business, and Training Management
Corporation (TMC (News - Alert)) recently announced a joint Cultural Orientations
Approach™ (COA) workshop for the academic market.
The inaugural Thunderbird and TMC joint COA Certification workshop will
be held March 19 -20 on the Thunderbird Campus in Glendale, AZ.
"Here at Thunderbird, we investigate every cross-cultural assessment
tool available for our global graduate students and executives in a
relentless search for the best. We continually select the Cultural
Orientations Indicator® (COI) because of its ability to practically
measure a person's work style against the three dimensions of culture.
Our global participants demand that we go beyond the theory of culture
to developing their skills for leadership, and the COI helps take them
there," said Karen S. Walch, Ph.D., Associate Professor of Global
Negotiation at Thunderbird School of Global Management.
The workshop is designed to introduce the academic market to the COA
approach integrating the Cultural
Orientations Indicator® (COI), an assessment tool used in
determining cultural challenges and acceptance among colleagues, with TMC's
Cultural Navigator™ to provide a sound foundation for building
individual, team and organizational cultural competence. This
progressive learning experience engages participants through theory and
practical application in a classroom, virtual or blended-learning
setting. The workshop will be facilitated by a master facilitator with
extensive expertise in the Cultural Orientations Approach.
Developed by TMC, a Berlitz
Company, the COA certification program reinforces the positive
impacts of not just "cultural knowledge," but also cultural competence,
defined as the ability to work effectively with others across
differences of backgrounds, gender, ethnicity, etc.
"Approach to international development is fundamental to educating
employment-ready graduates before they enter the job market," said Mr.
Ken Belanger, Global Business Leader, TMC; Director, Global Leadership
Training (GLT), Americas. "Together, Thunderbird and TMC are
unparalleled resources helping current and future international business
professionals prepare to enter foreign markets and expand existing
