LGS Innovations awarded USD49m contract by US Army Main Communications Facility


Feb 21, 2013 (M2 EQUITYBITES via COMTEX) -- LGS Innovations, an independent subsidiary of Alcatel-Lucent (NYSE:ALU) (Euronext:ALU), announced on Wednesday the award of a contract valued at just over USD49m to upgrade the US Army's Main Communications Facility (MCF) in Southwest Asia.



The MCF, designed as a state-of-the-art commercial communications operations centre, will serve as the central information systems hub for the region. it will house 9,000 square feet of usable equipment room space and will be capable of multiplexing and de-multiplexing circuits transported over copper, fibre, satellite, or terrestrial Line of Sight (LOS) radios.

LGS said that it was selected as the exclusive contractor to engineer, furnish, install, test and secure the US Army's extensive network, transmission and voice infrastructure in Southwest Asia as part of the Department of Defence's IMOD initiative. Also, the company has been tasked to execute a critical cutover of transmission circuits as well as design, develop, furnish and install a virtualised infrastructure to accommodate the migration of servers and their applications from existing facilities to the MCF.


LGS Innovations provides networking and communications solutions to the US Federal Government.
