Feb 20, 2013 (AME Info - McClatchy-Tribune Information Services via COMTEX) -- DELL'S Q4 NET INCOME FALLS 31 percent: Dell Inc. has posted a 31 percent drop in quarterly profit to $530m, hurt by a shrinking consumer business, beating analysts' estimates, Reuters has reported. Sales across every business line, except servers and networking, declined in the fiscal fourth quarter, Dell said. Revenue from servers and networking climbed 18 percent, driven by its datacentre business and revenue from recently acquired companies such as Quest Software and Sonic Wall, the company said. Dell's worldwide PC shipments fell nearly 21 percent to 9.48 million in the last three months of 2012 from 11.97 million in the same period a year ago, according to IDC.

ADOBE TO RELEASE ACROBAT EMERGENCY PATCHES: Adobe Systems has announced it will release this week patches for two critical vulnerabilities disclosed last week that are actively being used by attackers, PC World has reported. Both vulnerabilities can be exploited if a user can be tricked into opening a malicious PDF, which is usually sent to targeted victims by email, said Adobe. Last week, Adobe released security updates for its Flash and Shockwave software that fixed a total of 19 vulnerabilities.
