Baidu Acquires Mobile Safety Firm TrustGo at USD30mn


Feb 18, 2013 (SinoCast Daily Business Beat via COMTEX) -- According to pingwest.com, Baidu.com, Inc. (NASDAQ: BIDU) has just finished the acquisition of TrustGo, a mobile security company, for over USD 30 million.

According to the news, it is yet to know how the team will be integrated after the completion of the acquisition. Currently, TrustGo has a R&D team of more than 40 people in China and is providing Chinese service.

It is reported that TrustGo is headquartered in Santa Clara and is founded by a local Chinese engineer. The company launched the first mobile security and application management tool oriented to Android platform in March 2012, and has won investment from Northern Light Venture Capital (NLVC) and TEEC (Tsinghua Entrepreneur and Executive Club) Angel Fund.



It is reported that the mobile security service of TrustGo covers the search and warning of virus and safety threats targeting banks, emails, web pages, games, e-commerce and social network, etc. The service is exclusively oriented to smart devices (such as mobile phones and tablet computers) adopting Android platform at present.
