Silicon Photonics Innovator Kotura Reports 40 Percent Revenue Growth in 2012MONTEREY PARK, CA, Feb 12, 2013 (MARKETWIRE via COMTEX) -- Silicon photonics innovator Kotura, Inc. today announced 2012 revenue growth of 40 percent and points to the growing demand for faster, limitless access to digital information as a key driver for future growth. In addition to revenue growth, Kotura received nods in 2012 from Inc. magazine and Deloitte for their growth from 2007-2011 during which time they experienced 848 percent revenue growth. Having been named to Inc. magazine's Inc. 500|5000 fastest growing private companies and Deloitte's Technology Fast 500 and chalking up a number of technology and product wins, Kotura marks 2012 as a major milestone year. "We exceeded 60,000 channels shipping per month, more than doubling from the previous year. Coming off of a high growth year, Kotura is focused on the future, which in the short term includes high-volume production of its Optical Engine, a low-power, 100 Gb/s chip solution that supports the interconnect fabric for next generation data centers and high performance computing. According to Cisco's Global Cloud Index released in October 2012, data center traffic will top 6.6 zettabytes by 2016, a fourfold increase from 2011. An inexpensive, small form factor chip solution that reduces power consumption and provides a high level of integration, Kotura's silicon photonics platform supports optical engines using Wave Division Multiplexing (WDM), in which multiple signals can share the same fiber path.
