Alien visitor adds chills to thrills at game launch [South Wales Evening Post (Wales)]

(South Wales Evening Post (Wales) Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) MORE than 100 video game fans got the fright of their lives at Morfa Retail Park.

Fans of the hit sci-fi shooter series Dead Space were left quaking as they joined in the late-night launch at the Game store on Thursday evening.

Staff at the shop were the successful winners of a nationwide competition to host the official UK launch of Dead Space 3. Manager Mark Hancock, from Treboeth, said: "It was a very good night, we had about 100 people here, which is steady, we are very pleased with the outcome.

"Everyone enjoyed themselves and I think a few of them were frightened too.

"The guys got to play the full game and then at 11.40pm they were brought into the shops in groups of five where they watched an exclusive trailer of the game.

Jumped "The lights were off except for the till area and then a necromorph (one of the game's alien monsters) jumped out at them. It took three hours for the guy to be made up.

"We had body parts and a torso around the shop and then Isaac (the game's lead character) came in and shouted everyone to get out." The Dead Space series, created by Visceral Games, tells the story of engineer Isaac Clarke and his ongoing deadly battle with violent necromorph aliens.

To hold the launch party, the store had to submit a plan about their launch night to Game bosses and to publishing giant EA, the company behind the series.

Mr Hancock added: "We had a brilliant time.

"Every bit of it, from the set up to the night itself was great.

"Everyone enjoyed themselves." (c) 2013 ProQuest Information and Learning Company; All Rights Reserved.
