HoodiePillow, manufactured in York County, to appear on ABC's 'Shark Tank' tonight

Feb 08, 2013 (York Daily Record - McClatchy-Tribune Information Services via COMTEX) -- Remember the HoodiePillow Dallco Industries, a 90-year-old York County company, manufactures the product, which offers total "cocoonification." Essentially, it's a fleece pillowcase with a drawstring hood that has already appeared on "Good Morning America" and the "TODAY Show." On Friday at 9 p.m., the hooded wonder is making another small screen debut on ABC's "Shark Tank," a show where budding entrepreneurs convince investors to fund their business ideas and inventions.

Christopher and Dana Hindley, who live in New Jersey, developed the HoodiePillow after bringing their newborn triplets home from the hospital. As new parents, they needed a quieter, darker sleeping environment.

The couple will present the invention to the "Shark Tank" panel with help from partner Rebecca Rescate, according to the show's blog.

Rescate, according to the blog, made millions from CitiKitty -- a device used to toilet train cats -- since partnering with in an investor during the show's second season.

Christopher Hindley couldn't say why the HoodiePillow team is seeking investment on the episode, which was taped in September.

The product, he added, has changed slightly since it first rolled off the Dallco production line.

"We did a little bit of tweaking," he said. "We added a pocket for your remote, your iPhone or your iPod. There's a little hole in the pocket and behind your head. You can run your headphone cable through the pillowcase so your headphones come out behind your head." Dallco Industries is currently working on a third order for 4,000 of the improved sleeping accessory.

Along with HoodiePillows, Dallco also manufactures a portfolio of sewn goods ranging from canopies for Army humvees to camoflauge outer shells for bulletproof vests to DogLeggs, a veterinary device used in animals with weak legs.
