Outstanding Sacramento State alumni to be honored


Feb 08, 2013 (The Sacramento Bee - McClatchy-Tribune Information Services via COMTEX) -- Awards that showcase the impact of Sacramento State will be presented in April to outstanding alumni.

Five Sacramento State graduates will receive the Distinguished Service Award: --David Bugatto, 1986 graduate in Business Administration, President and CEO of Alleghany Properties, LLC.

-- Cheryl Dell, 1982 graduate in Communications Studies, Publisher and President of The Sacramento Bee.

-- Michael Kuhlmann, 1969 graduate in Electrical Engineering, President and CEO of Residential Control Systems, Inc. (RCS).

-- Garry Maisel, 1980 graduate in Business Administration, President and CEO of Western Health Advantage.

-- Rhonda Staley-Brooks, 1995 graduate in Child Development, President and CEO of Big Brothers Big Sisters of Greater Sacramento.



A Rising Star Award will be given to Christina Preston, a 2011 anthropology graduate who founded Shoes4Sacramento. Her program collects shoes that can be cleaned and given to people in need in the Sacramento region.

The awards are presented by Sacramento State President Alexander Gonzalez and the Alumni Association. The dinner and program, hosted by KFBK radio news anchor Kitty O'Neal, also a Sac State graduate, is scheduled for April 25.
