Police alert public to exposure incidents in Edmond

EDMOND, Feb 07, 2013 (The Edmond Sun - McClatchy-Tribune Information Services via COMTEX) -- Police said they are looking for a man who reportedly exposed himself in two areas of Edmond -- in a park and behind a business.

Jenny Monroe, spokeswoman for the Edmond Police Department, said the first incident happened in November behind a salon. The most recent incident happened at a neighborhood park where children were playing at the time, Monroe said.

"A woman jogging saw him and chased him out of the neighborhood," she said. "The suspect information is very similar in both incidents. We are asking the citizens of Edmond to be on the lookout and call 911 immediately if they witness another incident." Monroe released reports on two incidents that occurred in south Edmond.

At about 5:15 p.m. on Feb. 3, Edmond Police Officer Patricia Demoss was dispatched to Whispering Heights Park, 3707 Grandview Terrace, about an indecent exposure that occurred at 1:30 p.m., according to the report filed by Demoss.

Demoss stated that the victim was jogging in the park where she observed the suspect as being a possibly 5-feet, 6-inch to 5-feet, 8-inch tall American Indian male age 14-16 with dark skin weighing about 125-130 pounds, very dark brown or black hair, allegedly exposing himself while watching children at the park. He was wearing possibly green long shorts or sweatpants and a maroon sweatshirt, the report stated.

As the victim approached him, Demoss stated, he looked at her and she said, "You better run." The victim, who did not have a phone with her, pursued him while he ran to the north. She lost sight of the suspect after she injured her foot, the report stated.

The description of the suspect is close to the description in the second report, Demoss stated.

At about 5:42 p.m. on Nov. 20, Officer Nathan Fountain was dispatched to Cottonwood Salon and Spa, 35 E. 33rd Street, where two workers had seen the suspect exposing himself by a dumpster in the back parking lot, according to the report filed by Demoss.

One of the victims yelled: "I'm calling the cops" and the suspect started to run toward the east, Demoss stated.

The suspect was described as having poor posture and being a 5-foot, 5-inch Hispanic male age 15-17 weighing 145 pounds with unkempt dark brown hair and brown eyes, the report stated. He was wearing a black hoodie, red plaid pajama pants with pockets, skater shoes with red soles and he was carrying a black backpack, the report stated.

Demoss put the business on extra patrol.
