GridSense and Landis+Gyr introduce LineIQ and TransformerIQ monitors

Jan 31, 2013 (Datamonitor via COMTEX) -- GridSense, an Acorn Energy company that develops and markets monitoring solutions for the electric power industry, and Landis+Gyr, a provider of integrated energy management solutions, have announced the availability of GridSense LineIQ and TransformerIQ monitors equipped with Gridstream platform communication.

According to GridSense, the Gridstream solution offers a two-way network platform that forms the backbone for grid management solutions ranging from advanced meters to intelligent switches, reclosers, capacitor banks and RTUs.

By incorporating the Gridstream network communication into GridSense monitors such as the TransformerIQ and LineIQ solutions, utilities are able to expand their distribution automation capabilities to full-featured overhead line and transformer monitoring within an intelligent communications platform. The GridSense LineIQ solution provides intelligent overhead line monitoring, while TransformerIQ monitors all failure modes in transformers from the poletop to the substation, the company said.

"GridSense is extremely pleased to integrate the Gridstream communication platform into our monitoring solutions," said GridSense CEO Lindon Shiao. "Many utilities are actively using their Gridstream platform for distribution automation and smart meter rollouts today. These utilities can now accomplish network-wide, full-featured line and transformer monitoring more costeffectively and with less risk simply by leveraging their existing communications framework. The entire team at GridSense looks forward to serving this market." http://www.datamonitor.com Republication or redistribution, including by framing or similar means, is expressly prohibited without prior written consent.
