Thousands of Families to Demand Enhanced School Choice in Illinois At Union Station "Whistle Stop" Event - Tuesday, Jan. 29 at 6:00 pmCHICAGO --(Business Wire)-- More than 2,800 Chicagoans will gather at historic Union Station on Tuesday, Jan. 29 to demand enhanced and equitable educational options for families, organizers announced today. The event will take place at 6:00pm in the station's Grand Hall and feature remarks from students, teachers and parents, along with speeches by Illinois Network of Charter Schools President Andrew Broy and Catholic Schools Superintendent Sr. Mary Paul McCaughey. Broy is expected to rally charter parents to support equity in funding for the state's high-performing public charter sector while McCaughey will focus on the need to provide greater access to private and parochial schools to all children. The event will mark the fifth stop of National School Choice Week 2013's cross-country whistle-stop train tour, the National School Choice Week 'Special,' which will shine a spotlight on the need to expand access to educational options for all children (www.schoolchoiceweek.com/train).
