BRIEF: BBQ restaurant now open at Coliseum

The U.S. Cellular Coliseum's restaurant is sporting a new aroma -- that of slow-smoked barbecue.
The Smokehouse opened earlier this month in the venue's restaurant space, which also houses The Club restaurant during sports games. The space formerly housed Corn Palace restaurant. Smokehouse has a lunch buffet from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. The new business also offers catering of its pulled pork, beef brisket, barbecue chicken and ribs.
"This is brand new. Barbecue is popular but there are not a lot of barbecue places in this town," said Smokehouse General Manager Jon Green.
The restaurant is owned by John Butler, president of Central Illinois Arena Management. It is modeled after Main Street Smokehouse in Libertyville and it features recipes and sauces unique to the suburban Chicago restaurant.
The daily buffet costs $9.25 and includes options such as meat, chili, barbecue baked beans, corn bread and salad. Catering options cost from $12 to $16 per pound of smoked meat and $15 to $30 for sides. Pick-up or delivery in the Bloomington-Normal area is available for catering. Smokehouse will also have a vendor booth during games.
