FBI seeks clues in 2011 robbery, shooting at ATM

Jan 23, 2013 (The Charlotte Observer - McClatchy-Tribune Information Services via COMTEX) -- The FBI is again asking for the public's help in identifying the person responsible for robbing and shooting a woman working on an ATM in the SouthPark area.

The shooting occurred the morning of Jan. 23, 2011 at a Wells Fargo bank machine in the Foxcroft Shopping Center on Fairview Road.

Investigators say the victim, who worked for Loomis, had gotten out of a company van to work on the ATM when she was approached by a man. The suspect shot the woman during the robbery attempt.

Authorities say the victim was able to get back into the van, and her co-worker drove off to try to get her to the hospital.

The suspect is described as a black male who is 20-25 years old, with a small build. In surveillance photos, the suspect is seen wearing a grey hooded sweatshirt, black t-shirt, grey sweatpants, black Nike shoes with a white emblem, and a baseball cap with a silver sticker on the brim.

In a surveillance video released last year, the suspect was seen running toward the camera, apparently carrying a handgun and a bag full of money.

The FBI is offering a reward of up to $20,000 for information that leads to the arrest and successful prosecution of the suspect.

Anyone with information is asked to call FBI Charlotte at 704-672-6100 or the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Crime Stoppers at 704-334-1600.
