Fiberhome Telecom Wins China Unicom's 40G WDM Bidding


Jan 21, 2013 (SinoCast Daily Business Beat via COMTEX) -- China Unicom (Hong Kong) Ltd. (NYSE: CHU, SEHK: 0762, and SHSE: 600050) has disclosed the results of a bidding for the new construction of 40G WDM system for a long-distance transmission network, according to an insider.



Four manufacturers participated in the bidding, but only two, Fiberhome Telecommunication Technologies Co., Ltd. (SHSE: 600498) and Alcatel-Lucent Shanghai Bell Co., Ltd. (ASB), were chosen. Obtaining over 60% of the contract, Fiberhome Telecommunication is the biggest winner.

The insider said that the project mentioned before contained two contracts involving nine projects. It is said that 1,700 blocks of 40G OTUs will be built in the first phase with a budget of over CNY 200 million.


FONST 5000, which is chosen for the project, is Fiberhome Telecommunication's brand-new OTN equipment of FONST series. The new product supports full-particle cross scheduling, and is compatible with devices that have different capacities, cross-particles and sizes in different layers of a network and can be applied to the core nodes of national and provincial networks. As a 100G OTN platform, the product can also be added with a 100G channel in the future.
