Fujitsu's green drive [New Straits Time (Malaysia)]


(New Straits Time (Malaysia) Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) ICT solutions and services provider Fujitsu recently embarked on its 10th Fujitsu Tropical Rainforest Regeneration Project to restore the lush of tropical rainforests in Borneo.

Launched in 2002, the FTRR project is a voluntary activity to revitalise 150 hectares of Fujitsu's Malaysia Eco-Forest Park located at Kinarut, Sabah on the Borneo Island, with the assistance of Sabah Forestry Development Authority (SAFODA) and the Japan International Forestry Promotion and Corporation Center (JIFC).



This year alone, Fujitsu planted 1,000 Dipterocarp nurseries in an event that saw 163 individuals - from Fujitsu Group, SAFODA, University Sabah Malaysia, Embassy of Japan Malaysia and Kinabalu Japanese School - taking part in the tree-planting project held from Nov 23 to Dec 2 l, 2012.

So far, Fujitsu has planted 37,500 Dipterocarp nurseries and maintains them with the operating fund gathered via the donation from over 10,000 Fujitsu Group's employees.


New from Sony SONY sunveiled three new Xperia devices at the product launch in Kuala Lumpur last week.

Targeted at the socially savvy Internet lovers, the Xperia Tablet S, and Xperia TX and Xperia V smartphones carry unique features as well as Sony's proprietory technologies.

Xperia S comes in three specifications. The entry level model offers Wi-Fi connectivity with 16GB internal storage. It retails at RM1,399. The Wi-Fi + 3G model with 16GB and 32GB internal storage options are priced at RM1,799 and RM1,999 respectively.

Meanwhile, the Android Ice Cream Sandwich-based Xperia TX and Xperia V each carries a RM1,599 price tag.

Something new from Alcatel ALCATEL is back in the mobile phone market with the release of three Android-based machines - Alcatel One Touch 997D Explore, One Touch 993D Insight and One Touch T10 Tab.

The 977D Explore is Alcatel's flagship model, offering a 4.3- inch display, dual core 1GHz CPu, dual SIM slot and 8-megapixel camera.

Retailing at RM799 the model fits adventurous users as it also comes with nano-coated splash-proof design, AGPS and long-lasting 1,800mAh battery.

The Alcatel 993D Insight comes with a 4-inch display, 1GHz CPU, dual SIM slot and 5-megapixel camera. This Wi-Fi-enabled model is priced at RM599.

Meanwhile, the T10 Tab sports a 7-inch display, 1GHz ARM Cortex A8 processor and Wi-Fi connectivity. Priced affordably at RM499, the model also features multimedia support, microSD slot and e-book reader functionality.
