Huawei Wins Telenor's LTE-Ready Microwave Backhaul Contract

Jan 18, 2013 (SinoCast Daily Business Beat via COMTEX) -- Huawei Technologies Co., Ltd. and Telenor have signed a three-year strategic cooperation framework contract to develop IP microwave technologies, according to foreign media.

Based on this contract, Huawei will widely deploy second-generation E-Brand and full outdoor (FO) microwave solutions for Telenor.

Since Huawei has completed IP-based base station upgrading, Telenor has planned to deploy LTE network on a large scale and use the former's end-to-end IP microwave solution for LTE backhaul transmission. The solution could realize high bandwidth, smooth evolution, quick deployment and easy management of LTE backhaul transmission network.

Huawei's microwave solution is based on a universal IP platform including a flexible microwave platform RTN 900 series, FO microwave solution RTN 900 with zero footprint and a second-generation operator-level E-Brand FO microwave solution.

Huawei said that it had deployed LTE backhaul networks for many operators in the world, including Vodafone D2 from Germany, O2 from Czech Republic, T-Mobile from Austria and Saudi Telecom Company (STC) from Saudi Arabia.
