BRIEF: Bellingham School District takes fourth in gymnastics meet


Jan 18, 2013 (The Bellingham Herald (Bellingham - McClatchy-Tribune Information Services via COMTEX) -- The Bellingham School District gymnastics team placed fourth out of five teams at a gymnastics meet at Ballard High School on Thursday, Jan. 17.



Ballard won the meet with 156.7 points, Inglemoor placed second with 156.65 points, Skyline was third with 143.15 points, Bellingham School District had 143 points and Eastlake scored 131.85 points.

Sehome's Zoe Bunnell led Bellingham with an eighth-place finish and 30.8 points in the all-around, a sixth-place finish and 81 points on the balance beam, a fifth-place finish and 6.85 points on the bars and a sixth-place finish with 8.4 points in the vault.


Squalicum's Madi Krussow placed sixth in the all-around with 31.25 points, fifth in floor exercise with 9.25 points and second in the vault with 8.6 points.

"They had a tough time on the beams today," Bellingham School District coach Doriane Gunnels said in a phone interview.
