Ergon subsidiary delivers the goods(ENP Newswire Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) ENP Newswire - 18 January 2013 Release date- 17012013 - Infrastructure and technology built and supplied by Ergon Energy's telecommunication's subsidiary Nexium is enabling companies to expand and consolidate operations in regional Queensland. Nexium Manager Kevin Boylan said Nexium's recent success in delivering top-end solutions for major clients was due to teamwork, communication and a culture of thinking 'outside the square'. 'Nexium Telecommunications was established in 2004 to help secure vital telecommunications services for Ergon Energy and provide a commercial return by selling excess capacity. The company now supports telecommunications to local councils, energy, transport and resource clients and the government sector,' Mr Boylan said. Through key relationships with customers, Nexium has recently delivered a range of new services to end-user organisations throughout Queensland. Nexium will provide a leading telecommunications carrier greater access into regional Queensland after a deal between the two providers was signed off in late November. Nexium's high speed network and supporting infrastructure will provide the carrier with a conduit for its expansion plans - particularly for mobile services. Meanwhile systems interconnectivity between the Brisbane headquarters of one of Australia's largest integrated energy companies and its operations on the Darling Downs has been improved with the delivery of an ethernet service to a power station 35km south west of Dalby. Work was also completed on a fibre optic service between the Braemar facility and the company's gas processing plant, west of Dalby. Further north, a major mining company will benefit from a lighting fast data flow at a new mine in central Queensland thanks to a recent Nexium project. A new ethernet service commissioned for the mining company's open-cut coal facility in the Bowen Basin provides a vital 200Mb link on the back of new fibre optic cable built between Isaac Plains and Broadlea substations. In Toowoomba a civil construction group is another company to benefit from Nexium's high speed fibre optic network. Nexium is currently building a new connection from that company's head office in Toowoomba to their office in Brisbane. The rapidly expanding Toowoomba company required the link to intersect with a data centre in Brisbane to provide key disaster recovery options. Nexium is also delivering a link from a 1000-person camp in Roma back to Brisbane and connecting the company's Roma office to their Toowoomba office. 'This has been a great opportunity to provide a high level of resilience into a client's network' said Ray Carey, Nexium's Solutions Manager. 'We spent a lot of time consulting with the civil construction group and their service provider, to deliver the best possible solution that would enable them to continue their rapid growth.' Nexium also recently completed the construction of a high capacity fibre optic service between the Persistent Pain Clinic in Townsville and the Townsville Hospital. It will provide improved IT services to which will ultimately mean an improvement in delivery health services to the residents of Townsville. 'Every project has its challenges and the most recent ones were no exception,' Mr Boylan said, citing long and difficult construction phases, cultural heritage and environmental approvals, hazardous materials discoveries and protracted negotiations as being some of those challenges.
