BRIEF: Google-LG's Nexus 4 smartphone arrives in Israel

Jan 16, 2013 (Globes - McClatchy-Tribune Information Services via COMTEX) -- The Nexus 4, the flagship smartphone of Google Inc. (Nasdaq: GOOG) and LG Corporation (KSX: 3350) has arrived in Israel. Home Center's hMobile chain will launch sales tomorrow at NIS 2,900, Bug will sell it for NIS 3,000 beginning on January 24, and Hyperstore began sales today at NIS 3,000.

Google is offering the Nexus 4 on its Google Play website, which is not available in Israel, for $350 (NIS 1,300), making it a real bargain. The price of the Nexus 4 in Israel is not the subsidized price Google is offering on Google Play. Amazon.com is offering the Nexus 4 for $580 (NIS 2,160), not including taxes.

When looking at these figures and comparing the price of the Nexus 4 at Israeli stores and regular stores rather than Google Play, the gap narrows.

The Nexus 4 has a 4.7-inch diagonal screen and wireless recharging. It has a four-core S4 Snapdragon process with 1.5-Gpbs access speed and 16-gigabyte memory, which cannot be increased with a card, and an 8-megapixel camera. The smartphone weighs 139 grams, is 9.1 millimeters thick, and a 2,100-milliamphere battery.
