BRIEF: Cabela's will add a new store in Woodbury; it will open in 2014

Jan 15, 2013 (Star Tribune (Minneapolis) - McClatchy-Tribune Information Services via COMTEX) -- Cabela's Inc., the hunting-and-fishing retailer, has finally put the eastern metro in its sights.

The Nebraska-based mega-outfitter announced plans Tuesday to open a store in Woodbury in the fall of 2014.

It will be the fourth location in Minnesota, after Owatonna, Rogers and East Grand Forks. The store in the Tamarack Village Shopping Center will employ up to 185 full-and part-time employees. Construction will start in the fall on the 85,000-square-foot store, which will be less than half the size of the 185,000-square-foot Rogers location.

"Minnesota offers a tremendous array of outdoor pursuits and that has been highlighted by the commitment and loyalty of Cabela's customers across the state," said Cabela's chief executive officer Tommy Millner. "Cabela's has had remarkable success in the [other Minnesota locations] and we expect similar results in Woodbury." John Ewoldt --612-673-7633 or [email protected].
