Appointment, reappointment made to Michigan Education Trust board of directors


(M2 PressWIRE Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) LANSING, Mich. - Gov. Rick Snyder today announced the appointment of Robert Ferrentino, of Greenville, and the reappointment of Susan Martin, of Ypsilanti, to the Michigan Education Trust board of directors.



Housed within the Michigan Department of Treasury, the nine-person committee serves as an advisory board for the Michigan Education Savings Program.

Ferrentino is president of Montcalm Community College. He previously held various leadership positions with Muskegon Community College, including vice president for academic affairs, dean of instruction and dean of occupational programs. Ferrentino also served as the management and marketing program director and as director of marketing services at Lansing Community College. From Northern Illinois University, he holds a bachelor's degree in marketing and a master's degree in business administration, and he received a degree from Thomas M. Cooley Law School. Ferrentino will represent presidents of community colleges and replaces Gail Mee.

Martin is president of Eastern Michigan University, a position she has held since 2008. She previously served as provost and vice chancellor of academic affairs for the University of Michigan - Dearborn. Martin also held various leadership positions with Grand Valley State University and the state of Michigan. She earned a bachelor's degree in public speaking from Central Michigan University, a master's degree in business administration and Ph.D. in accounting, both from Michigan State University. She will continue to represent presidents of four-year public universities.

Appointees will serve three-year terms that expire Dec. 31, 2015, and their appointments are subject to the advice and consent of the Senate.
