Mobily expands 4G infrastructure


JEDDAH, Jan 12, 2013 (Arab News - McClatchy-Tribune Information Services via COMTEX) -- Etihad Etisalat (Mobily) has finalized expanding its network infrastructure with the latest and most advanced technologies worldwide. More than 6,500 sites have been completed so far.



The acting Chief Operations Officer, Nasser Al-Nasser, stressed that the company is working continuously to develop its infrastructure including mobile communication networks through the development of the sites or adding new ones.

Mobily strives to increase the efficiency of its network, as it is one of the (GED) strategy pillars.


Al-Nasser said the largest share targeted the 4G network to cover 2,000 new sites.

In addition, 1,300 3G sites where setup to cover more than 660 locations with update. He said 740 2G sites were added, taking the number of the updated sites to 1,850.

He said Mobily's highly developed networks will enhance performance efficiency.

Hence, this will impact the offered services including data service, which became a massive demand with the spread of smart phones among different segments of society.

Al-Nasser praised the efforts of network operations staff to accomplish this project.

Mobily adopted an innovative solution to expand the wireless network's efficiency in a move that enriches the lives of its subscribers, enabling subscribers in high data consumption places to connect to the Internet through smart devices and tablets using free (Wi-Fi).
